Thomas Wayne "Zig" Baker, 68, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 15, 2021, following a long illness. Born to Tommy and Viola Baker on December 23, 1952 in Columbia, Tennessee, Wayne was a lover of music, beans and cornbread, and a good debate. He was fiercely opinionated and loved to talk (and talk and talk) with anyone who would listen. He was a musician in the classic rock band, Munchkin, and a laborer, retired from Metro Nashville Public Works Department in 2011. Wayne could often be found with a Diet Coke, cigarette, and guitar in hand, discussing music, politics, morality, and math. He was a faithful husband and proud father and grandfather.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Bron; children, Heidi (Dan) Mahlon and Adrian (Heather) Baker; and his grandchildren, Zoey and Rob Mahlon and Landry and Adeline Baker; as well as his sisters, Linda Kelley and Judy Smith, and other devoted family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched through his stubbornness, honesty, music, and humor.
A small gathering of family and friends is currently being planned.
