Bill McWhorter, beloved brother, uncle, and friend passed away May 4, 2026. A saxophone player and instructor, Bill found great joy in both performing nd teaching. Bill was a dedicated sports fan. He was a decades long Atlanta Braves fan (not just the good years). He was also an enthusiastic Tennessee Volunteers fan always ready with “How about them Vols”. His loyalty as a fan was surpassed by his dedication to his friendships, some that have lasted decades.
Bill was born on March 19,2026. He graduated from Montgomery Central High School and attended Austin Peay State University. He was preceded in death by his parents William Maurice McWhorter Sr. and Linda Weakley McWhorter. He was survived by his siblings Lynn Welsh, Tommy McWhorter, Steven McWhorter (Michelle) and Carolyn McWhorter. He was a proud uncle to Winter Hobock (Chad), Spencer Welsh (Shelby), Caroline Welsh(Sasha),Ethan McWhorter, and great-niece Harper Hobock. Along with many extended family members, and students, who will miss him.
A memorial service is planned for June 6, 2026 at River Church (1039 Clumberland Rc) at 1:00
Bill will be remembered for his good nature, spirit, and unique sense of humor.
