William Bruce Brown

William Bruce Brown, known to everyone as Bruce, passed away at home in Clarksville, Tennessee, on August 11, 2026. He was 58 years old. Bruce was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, on February 19, 1968, to Victoria “Vickie” Golden-Bright and Charles “Charlie” Brown. He is survived by his daughter, Julie Brown; his stepchildren, Wesley and Brittany Dunn; his granddaughter, Baylee Dunn, who knew him as Pop-pop; his brother, Mark Brown; and his mother, Vickie. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie, and by Katherine Brown, Julie’s mother, who remained an important person in his life.

Bruce was an electrician by trade and a handyman at heart. He could fix almost anything, and if he couldn't, he was willing to spend an incredible amount of time figuring it out. Whether it meant electrical work, a wooden model airplane he'd been building for decades, painting or whatever project had caught his attention, he was happiest tinkering.

Bruce was also a nature lover and amateur geologist at heart. Through Julie’s childhood, they would spend a great deal of time camping and hiking, and Bruce’s pockets would undoubtedly include a collection of quartz and other interesting rocks he found along the way. Earlier this year, Bruce and Julie traveled to the Grand Canyon together where Bruce, naturally, spent much of the time sifting through the gravel. Julie did not let him take any Grand Canyon rocks home…probably.

Bruce was endlessly curious about the world. He had plenty of unconventional ideas, and he was always willing to listen and learn from others. He and his daughter shared a particularly odd sense of humor and found themselves at the dinner table joking and talking about the world many nights long after their plates were cleared. Having him live with her in Clarksville became something Julie will always be grateful for.

Bruce was passionate about the things he loved, always ready to help when he could, and never quite done with whatever project was in front of him. He was complicated, curious, funny, stubborn, and deeply loved.

He will be missed more than he probably ever would have believed.
