In Loving Memory of the One and Only BIG SEXY aka Steve Morris.
It is with equal parts profound sadness and a quiet urge to smile that we announce the departure of an absolute legend — a man so larger-than-life that even the angels are probably already asking him for autographs. Known to the world (and to the small army of best friends who all swore they were his number one) simply as BIG SEXY, he has now gone upstairs for a highly anticipated sit-down with the BIG GUY — no doubt already working the room, cracking jokes, and making Heaven a little louder and a lot more fun.
BIG SEXY was the kind of husband who saw his wife as the love of his life and his best friend — a rare and beautiful combination that somehow made every ordinary porch Tuesday feel like the best date night ever. Calling each other “dorks” with such relentless, perfectly timed commitment that it became their official love language — complete with mock outrage, exaggerated sighs, and the kind of snort-laughs that could clear a room. Watching them was like witnessing a lifelong comedy duo who just happened to be hopelessly in love.
He was the proud step dad to three now-adult kids who knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that “step” was just a technicality. He showed up for every milestone, every late-night crisis, every ridiculous scheme, with the same fierce loyalty and bigger-than-life sense of humor he gave everyone else he loved. And love them, he did.
He was a devoted son who never forgot a birthday, never missed a Sunday call, and showed up with the same big-hearted loyalty that defined everything he did.
He was the first one at work every single morning — coffee in hand, grin already locked and loaded — turning the quiet before dawn into the unofficial start of the day’s comedy hour.
And as a friend? Forget about it. The man collected best friends the way most people collect socks that mysteriously vanish in the dryer… except his never disappeared, and every single one still somehow felt like the favorite pair.
He was funny the way only the truly kind can be — a tad bit sarcastic sprinkled with a bit of truth and permanently convinced that life was better when people were smiling. He loved hard, laughed harder, and lived under the firm belief that “BIG SEXY” wasn’t just a nickname… it was a full-time job he excelled at. (And let’s be honest, the man earned every single letter of it — with that infectious laugh that could turn a room of strangers into lifelong friends in under five minutes, the effortless charm that made even the grumpiest Monday feel like a celebration, and the rare gift of making everyone around him feel like the most important person in the world.)
Though his big, beautiful, ridiculous heart has gone quiet, the echo of that laugh is still bouncing around every room he ever walked into. The world is a little less bright, a little less loud, and a whole lot less sexy without him — but the stories? Oh, those are forever.
BIG SEXY, you remarkable man… thank you for the love, the loyalty, the early-morning example, and for making ordinary days feel meaningful.
We’ll keep the cooler stocked, the jokes flowing, and your chair at the table forever reserved.
Until we meet again — keep Heaven laughing and don’t let the party slow down for a second. You have finally conquered your fear of heights.
We love you. Always. Your TRIBE.
