Ruth Ann (Taylor) Cobbs

February 23, 1964 — December 2, 2022

Surrounded by her family, Ruth Ann (Taylor) Cobbs, passed away on December 2, 2022, at Tennova Hospital in Clarksville, Tennessee. Ruth, a caring wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend, was 58 years old. Born in Waukegan, Illinois on February 23, 1964, she spent most of her life as a resident of Memphis, Tennessee.

Nothing was more important to Ruth than her family, who will continue her legacy of love, compassion, and strength, as well as an unwavering faith in God. She was known by her love of lists, hobbies with home décor and thrift shopping, and cravings for seafood feasts. She worked as a professional cook and carried that over into her personal life, where she honed and refined recipes old and new, hers and those found online. She loved to watch Court shows, including: Divorce Court (Judge Faith), Couples’ Court with The Cutlers, and Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court, as well as, reality shows, like Love and Marriage: Huntsville. She was a proud dog-grandmother and spent most of her days surrounded by these beloved pups (Baibey, Gizmo, Sabrynity, and Cookie), as well as, her adopted cat (Madden).

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Carlton Taylor of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Nelda Faye (Pearce) Taylor of Memphis, Tennessee and mother-in law, Glenna (Carpenter-Cobbs) Porter of Memphis, Tennessee. Her best friend and beloved older sister, Teressa Faye (Taylor) Leith passed away earlier this year in May, in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Roosevelt Cobbs III, whom she married on December 23, 1991; daughters, Dr. Tanisha Taylor and Ms. Shyiann Cobbs, all of whom reside in Clarksville; and beloved nieces and nephew-- whom she helped raise-- as well as their families: Hollie Gustafson (husband-James; children- Robert, Matthew, Brennan, Katelyn, Olivia, and Scarlett); Jessica Daniels (husband-Shane; children- Daniel, Zakarie, Lily, and Piper); and Edward Bland (wife-Santanna; daughter-Christina). Furthermore, she leaves behind her older brother, Eddie Wayne Taylor; sisters, Carol Stauss and Kerriann Taylor; sister-in-law, Nichelle Cobbs, and their families.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the Summer of 2023 for those who knew and loved her best. If you would like to do an act of honor in her memory, she was an avid animal lover and supporter of the efforts of the ASPCA, where donations are always welcome.
