Ronnie Dean Ballew, age 64, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family while in hospice care after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Ronnie was born on August 16, 1961, and grew up in East Nashville, Tennessee but resided in Cheatham County Tennessee. He was the beloved son of Katherine Freeman Ballew and Joseph Tennyson Ballew.

He was a brother to: Terry Ballew (Mila), Joe Ballew, Mike Ballew (Mary),Norma Ballew Greenway, James Frazier, and a twin to Connie Ballew Russell

He was a loving and proud father to Timothy “Derek” Ballew Sr. (Kimberly), and a grandfather to his “sidekick,” Timothy Derek Ballew Jr. “Bubba,” and his little princess Brianna Shea Ballew “Sis.” Ronnie was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of his great-granddaughter, Sylvie Monroe Barth.

Ronnie was a loyal and lifelong friend to Greg Adkins (Wendy), Ronnie Adkins (Susan), Ray Adkins (Judy) and Tony Harding, and was a soul part of the dominating “R-Troop.”

He was a man of Christian faith who held the Bible close throughout his life, and even in his final days, he kept it close beside him.

He was an avid sports fan who proudly supported the Tennessee Vols, the Rams, and the Atlanta Braves. Ronnie had a deep love for basketball, and enjoyed spending time with his son at the racetrack and cherished his trips to Panama City Beach..

Ronnie appreciated the simple things in life, especially his love for the color purple and the number 14, which always held a special place in his heart

Above all, Ronnie’s greatest joy in life was his family, especially grandchildren. He treasured every moment spent with them, especially their walks together on hiking trails.

Ronnie will be remembered for his love, loyalty, and the joy he brought to those around him. He passed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of family, friendship, and lasting memories.
