Clarksville

Ricardo Herman Dorthalina, age 95, peacefully passed into the loving arms of the Lord on the morning of August 12, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Charles and Edith Dorthalina, Ricardo lived a long and fulfilling life marked by faith, family, and love.

He was thunder and velvet — mischief wrapped in tenderness, etched in contradiction, tempered by love that left its mark. My mind still talks to you and my heart still looks for you, but my soul knows you are at peace. Ricardo’s presence was a rare gift, a blend of strength and gentleness that left an impression on everyone blessed to know him.

CPL Ricardo Dorthalina proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, from March 1951 to March 1953, and continued his service for three additional years in the Army Reserves. For his service, he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), a recognition of his dedication and sacrifice. His love of country and commitment to duty remained an enduring part of his character throughout his life.

A hardworking and determined man, Ricardo was self-employed all his life and built a successful career as a builder and contractor. His dedication, skill, and work ethic left lasting marks not only on the homes and projects he created but also on the lives of those he worked with.

In his later years, Ricardo made his home in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he was surrounded by a warm and caring community. Known for his kindness and devotion to God, he touched the lives of many with his unwavering faith.

Ricardo is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Pamela Dorthalina, and his children: Kevin and Daniel Dorthalina, Yvette Townsend, Cathy and Ricky Dorthalina, and Tony Gehring. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his love and memory for generations to come.

His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.

A private gathering will be held for family to remember the times and life they shared together.
