Clarksville

LaVonne Lynne Reeves, a beloved sister, aunt, friend, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at Tennova Hospital in Clarksville, Tennessee. Born on February 27, 1951, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, LaVonne lived an extraordinary life marked by service, love, and remarkable resilience.

LaVonne was the cherished daughter of Alvin Skott and Inez Skott, and she was preceded in death by both parents, as well as her beloved dogs: Casey, Jenny, Freeda, and Patsty. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Reeves, whom she married on December 12, 1985, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, enjoying a beautiful partnership that lasted nearly 40 years. LaVonne is also survived by her brothers: Randy Skott (Jan), Brian Skott, and Kurt Skott (Debbie); sisters: Dianne Snow (Dave), Lynne Rose (Bruce), and Cindy Doerfler (Andy); and her loyal dog, Sunny.

LaVonne’s educational journey began at Leola High School in Leola, South Dakota, and culminated in a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science with minors in Art and Agriculture from Austin Peay State University in 2003. Her commitment to education extended into her professional life, where she made a significant impact as an Eligibility Counselor for the Tennessee Department of Human Services from 2005 until her retirement in 2015.

LaVonne was also a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1999. During her military career, she held various roles, including Missile Crewmember, Field Artillery Meteorological Crewmember, and Meteorological Instructor. LaVonne received numerous certificates, awards, and decorations, reflecting her dedication and expertise in her service to the nation.

A woman of many talents, LaVonne had a passion for running, crafts, and gardening. Her ability to nurture plants and arrange flowers was a testament to her caring nature. This nurturing spirit extended into her community involvement as a dedicated member of Fellowship United Methodist Church in Clarksville, where she taught Children’s Sunday School, served in the church kitchen and Hospitality team, and was an active participant in the Facilities Care team, ensuring the church's environment was beautiful and inviting. She also participated in the Walk to Emmaus, embodying her faith and commitment to her community.

LaVonne's tenacity and strength were exemplified when she completed a Women's Half-marathon just twelve weeks after undergoing hip replacement surgery, astonishing her doctor who had performed over 400 such surgeries without anyone achieving that feat.

A celebration of LaVonne's life will be held on November 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Fellowship United Methodist Church, located at 2201 Peachers Mill Rd, Clarksville, TN 37042. *Military honors service will also be on November 7, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.

As we remember LaVonne Lynne Reeves, we honor a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering strength.
