Melissa Dawn Burns

Melissa Burns, age 54, passed away at her home after a long battle with metastatic brain cancer on March 21, 2025.

Melissa was born on June 30, 1971 to her mother, Wanda Sloan and her father, Gary Hooper. Melissa was a light and overall joy to be around and always spread laughter to everyone she came across. Melissa enjoyed her family, household pets, the beauty of nature and anything involving Snoopy or Peanuts.

She will be remembered for her sheer resilience to overcome anything that life threw her way; good or bad. She was a woman of faith and found solace in the Lord’s teachings.

She is survived by her only daughter, Cassie Strange (Hastings), her son-in-law, Logan Hastings, her amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members/friends, as well as her beloved chihuahua, Daisy Mae.

She was preceded in death by her partner, Kevin Strange, mother Wanda Poole (Sloan), father Gary Hooper, grandmother Patricia Ann Sloan (Simmons), and grandfather Ross Junior Sloan.

Melissa had her celebration of life on April 13, 2026 at Historic Collinsville in Clarksville, TN and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
