Marilyn Joann Pollard (Booker)

Marilyn Joann Pollard, 85, of Clarksville, TN, died peacefully on Aug. 6, 2026.

Joann was born in Macomb, IL, on Sept. 7, 1940, and grew up in the East Alton, IL, area. On Dec. 30. 1963, she married LaVern Pollard. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2008.

In addition to many years as a homemaker, Joann also worked as a telephone operator, an auditor for the State of Tennessee, a seamstress, and as a counselor at a crisis call center. Her lifelong joy, in addition to her children and grandchildren, was crocheting. She has left behind many treasures as mementos for her family and friends, for generations to come. She also spent many years volunteering for the nonprofit organization Project Linus, crocheting blankets for traumatized and needy children.

Spirituality was also the center of Joann’s life. A devout Christian, she had a very strong faith, and was a prayer warrior.

Joann is survived by a daughter, Rose Pollard of Clarksville, two sons, Nathan Pollard of Clarksville, and Fred (Erich) Pollard of Alton, IL, three grandchildren, Heather (Eli) Dorris and Heath Meyers, both of Clarksville, and Shaika (Caleb) Ingram of Taylorville, IL, and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Joann was preceded in death by her loving mother, (Geraldine "Jerrie" Booker), and seven precious aunts and uncles, who she considered to be more like siblings.

She will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life gathering in Clarksville, TN, will be held at a later date.
