‘What looks like crazy on an ordinary day.’
Mable Vaden of Akron OH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters on June 12, 2026.
Mabel was born on May 4, 1948 in Winchester TN to William and Annie McGee. She attended Townsend School, received her GED at Nashville Adult School, and attended TSU before relocating to Akron OH.
Mabel worked at and retired from Akron Children’s Hospital. In addition to her dedication to her job, Mabel was a devout Muslim and volunteered her time faithfully at the local Masjid. Whether co-workers, fellow worshippers, friends, or family—all who knew Mabel knew she loved to share home-cooked meals, go to flea markets/garage sales, and listen/dance to music. Family & Friends have plenty of memories eating ‘apricot’ baked chicken and devouring one of her homemade cakes. Getting a call on a Saturday morning to go ‘foraging’ at thrift stores and garage sales was something you just knew was going to happen. If you were interested in attending a concert, well that was just icing on the cake.
Mabel would be the first to say that she didn’t know what she would do without her Family & Friends; that we were her LifeLine.
Mabel is preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings, her daughter—Liquita, and good friend Ernestine.
She is survived by sisters WillieMae and Diana (Michael), sister-in-law Nancy, daughters Lolita, Rheadawn, Bonita, and Aishia, friends Claudette, Dot, Augustus, Hasinah, CeeCee, and Fayad. Mabel was blessed to have known and loved her five grandchildren Rasheed (Veda), Asia, Ambre (David), Imanii (John), and Isaiah and nine great grandchildren Rasheed II, Rakeim, Brayden, Aubree, Amina, Amir, Asim, Amira, and Aquila. Mabel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews (grand & great).
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date yet to be determined.
Please visit Mable's tribute wall and share a memory with the family.
