Clarksville

Dr. Kil-Joong Kim, a dedicated educator, scholar, and beloved brother and uncle, passed away peacefully at the age of 84.

Born in South Korea in 1941, he spent his early years cultivating a deep love for learning. After graduating from college and honorably completing his military service in the Republic of Korea Air Force, he made the bold decision to move to the United States to pursue his academic dreams. His dedication to his field led him to the University of Cincinnati, where he earned his Ph.D. in Economics.

In 1980, he joined the faculty at Austin Peay State University, beginning a distinguished academic career that would span nearly 46 years. As a professor of economics, he mentored generations of students, shared his passion for global markets, and was a highly respected pillar of the university community.

Upon his well-deserved retirement, he happily traded the lecture hall for the fairway, spending his time enjoying the peace and camaraderie of the golf course.

He is survived by his four younger sisters, who remember him as a guiding light, devoted mentor, and a selfless soul who always put others before himself, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and were deeply touched by his humbleness and kindness.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal funeral services will be held. At this time, the family kindly requests your quiet prayers and thoughts as they celebrate his remarkable journey and legacy.
