It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of John Paul Eddlemon, who departed this life on 5-15-2025 surrounded by love and support. He was a dedicated public servant, devoted family man, and faithful follower of Christ whose life was marked by perseverance, integrity, and service to others.
Born to the late John Eddlemon and Annie Ruth Tidwell, Paul was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey and Florence Eddlemon, and Carl and Magdalene Jowers.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela Henley Eddlemon; his son, Alexzander Eddlemon;, stepchildren Garrison Evans (Madisyn), Landree Henley, Makaylee (Matthew) Campbell, and granddaughter Collins. He also leaves behind his uncle Danny Jowers; sister Angela Boshers; nieces Ashley Litchford, Candace, and Christy Eddlemon; and many other dear loved ones including Danny (Trina) Henley, Brandy (Brad) Barrow and their children Sloane and Abrey, Eric (Christine) Stoker and daughters Emma and Grace, Abram (Susan) Seth Baker, Judy Black, and the compassionate Gentiva Hospice care team.
A graduate of Obion County Central High School, Paul held both a Bachelor of Science in Religion and a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling from Liberty University. He earned his CDL in 2000, marking the beginning of a dynamic and varied professional life that included corrections, law enforcement, trucking, ministry, and maintenance work.
His career in law enforcement began in 2001 with the Weakley County Corrections Department and continued with the Gleason Police Department in 2002, where he held several responsibilities including investigations, K9 handling, and serving as Sergeant. After graduating from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2003, he served his community faithfully before pursuing entrepreneurship in the trucking industry.
In 2011, he responded to a calling to ministry, faithfully preaching and eventually pastoring full time while continuing his education. His return to law enforcement in 2015 led to roles in several departments, culminating in his service as Chief of Police in Gleason in 2018. In that role, he modernized and expanded the department, securing its own dedicated facility.
Following his time in police leadership, he worked in the clay mining industry and later transitioned to maintenance roles in nursing homes, eventually serving in a corporate capacity. After moving to Clarksville, he joined the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office as a School Resource Officer. He found deep purpose working with students at Greenwood Alternative School, forming meaningful connections and making a lasting impact.
Throughout his life, Paul was known for his steadfast faith, commitment to public service, and unwavering love for his family. His marriage to Angela brought him renewed strength and a sense of belonging. He often shared how her family became his own, surrounding him with unwavering love and support.
His legacy will endure in the lives he touched, the departments he served, and the family he so deeply cherished.
