Jean D (Alexander) Cordell

June 13, 1929 — September 3, 2023

“And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms.”

Jean D. Cordell peacefully entered the Gates of Heaven at the home of her daughter and son-in-law surrounded by her family on September 3, 2023. She was born on June 13, 1929 in Winchester, IN to Gale Alexander and Hazel Johnson.

She spent most of her life in Winchester then moved to Hagerstown, IN where she retired after 30 years of service from Perfect Circle Dana. Jean was a hard worker and enjoyed going to bingo and the casino in her spare time. She especially loved Daytona Beach where she and her husband visited frequently. After the death of her spouse, she relocated to Pittsburgh, PA to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She moved in with the family to Clarksville, TN in 2021.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Cordell; granddaughter,  Katie (Chris) Haupl; and sisters, June Haworth and Erma Mock. Jean is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn (Rob) Dumbovich of Clarksville, TN; son, Philip (Kris) Harvey of Fredericksburg, VA; grandson, Matthew (Sterling) Dumbovich; great granddaughter, Sidney Katharine of Nashville, TN; dear nieces to whom she was like a second mother, Connie (Joel) Roberts and Lori (Jim) Spangler both of Portland, IN; and nephew, Pastor Bill Haworth of Auburn, IN.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at a later date at the Nashville National Cemetery.
