TSgt Floyd Douglas Ison, AIR FORCE (Ret)

June 26, 1944 — October 27, 2025

Clarksville

Floyd Douglas Ison “Doug” passed away on October 27, 2025, at the age of 81. Doug was born on June 26, 1944, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, and grew up in nearby Hazzard. He was one of four children, preceded in death by his siblings, Wilma and Gary, and survived by his sister, Teresa.

Doug proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, rising to the rank of Technical Sergeant. When stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base, he met the love of his life, Airman Rachel Ann Moore. The two would move from duty station to duty station, traveling the world together for the next two decades. First, to Greece (a two and a half year honeymoon!), to Little Rock, Germany, then Clovis, New Mexico where he retired from the Air Force. Rachel’s duty assignment was to Virginia, causing the two to split and divorce. However, they realized that life was incomplete and remarried. The best of decisions for both. Doug also served his country in civilian life, dedicating his post-military career to training and mentoring the next generation of military logisticians.

Doug and Rachel moved to Clarksville, Tennessee and lived quietly together for the next twenty years. The epitome of growing old gracefully with a soulmate. In his last years, Doug successfully fought off severe respiratory illnesses but eventually developed cancer of the tonsils. He succumbed to cancer and its complications passing quietly into the night.

A father and devoted husband, Doug is survived by his wife, Rachel and his son, Rick. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly.

Doug will be remembered for his steadfast service, his love of family, and his gentle strength. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, loyalty, and devotion to those he loved most.
