Derek Lane Hutchens

Derek Hutchens of Winston Salem, NC passed suddenly into the more immediate presence of his Savior on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Clarksville, TN. He was born on March 1, 1969 in Elkin, NC to Dorothy (Sheek) and the late Jack Hutchens.

Derek spent the majority of his career as a truck driver before early retirement due to health issues. He spent his school years in Yadkinville before moving to Florida and eventually back to NC.

He is preceded in death by sisters, Dawn Flores and Deborah Hutchens; and brother-in-law, Cecil Adams. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Albertson Hutchens; mother, Dorothy Hutchens of Yadkinville, NC; sisters, Donna Adams and Denna (Harold) Brown of Yadkinville; brother, Dale Hutchens of Tampa, FL; brother-in-law, Tyler Gorman; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a donation to the American Kidney Fund or the American Heart Association in Derek’s honor.

A memorial for Derek is being planned and details will be shared at a later time.
