Charles C.A. Luttrell, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:50 AM, in his home in Clarksville, TN. Charles was born on March 28, 1932 to Jessie Matthews and Cleofus Luttrell.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his siblings, two nephews, two sons: Marvin and Charles C.A. Luttrell, Jr., and wife, Sue Carol. He leaves behind his daughter, Tawnya (Joseph) Doyle; daughter-in-law, Janet Harden Luttrell; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; five nephews; four nieces; two great nieces; two great nephews; and two great great nephews. He is also survived by Charlene Alegria, whom he stepped in as a second father to and as a grandpa to her three kids; and his wives: Georgie, Sharon B. R. L.M. Parsley (married 24 years), and Sherry.
As a young boy, Charles began picking cotton and tobacco to support his mother and siblings. In his early 20's he worked in the rock quarry, drove tow boats, and was a truck driver. He then later went to work for Colonial Nevinsen as a ranch handyman. He served in the Army National Guard and Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1952. He worked until age 49 as a High Line Electrical Groundsman until he was injured. He gained 50 years in the local #111 union and started a landscaping business in the 80's with his wife, Sharon.
Charles could drive anywhere, even though he didn't have an education past elementary school. Just draw him a picture map and he could find it. He was always giving and caring. If he couldn't pronounce your name he would give you a nickname he could pronounce. He loved traveling the country and seeing God's creations from the mountains to the canyons. He was a unique man and will be sorely missed. He loved eating Chili's and that's how he got his nickname.
A memorial service will be held on October 26, 2025.
Matthew 11:28-29
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart.
