Beverly Grace Johnson (Spencer)

Beverly Johnson (Spencer), 81, of Clarksville, Tennessee, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on April 6, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Born February 7, 1945, in Clarksville, Tennessee, to James Spencer and Mildred Moore, Beverly spent much of her childhood at the Monroe Harding Children’s Home in Green Hills. A proud Hillsboro High School Burro, she excelled on the basketball court and helped lead her teams to multiple championships.

After high school, Beverly worked in several fields to support her children. She served as a records specialist with the Clarksville Police Department and later as a surgical technician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her work ethic was matched only by her devotion to family.

Beverly had a deep love for her children and grandchildren and found great joy in attending their school programs and sporting events. She loved gardening, keeping a spotless home, fishing, and watching football with her family—Roll Tide. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her affection for animals (especially Cocker Spaniels), and her selfless dedication to helping raise her granddaughter, Ashley.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Sandy (Todd) Kurtz; son, Scott Johnson; son-in-law, Chris Cherry; grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Weber, Chase (Julie) Kurtz, Madison (Tyler) Dupont, and Brittany (Joseph)

McCaskill; and great-grandchildren Azrael, Eli, Kinley, Rhylan, Hayleigh, Harper, Wesley, Caleb, Addy, and Alynn.

Beverly was preceded in death by her son, Stevie Johnson; daughter, Tammy Cherry; grandson, Houston Johnson and beloved sisters, Dottie and Lavonne.

Per Beverly’s request, a private homegoing celebration will be held at a later date.
