Benjamin Daniel Tews was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 8, 1970. He was the second child born to Craig Monroe Tews and Gayam Bethany Walter Tews. When he was 8 the family moved to Florida, where, as a teenager, he discovered his lifelong passion for working on cars. In 1989, after the family returned to Wisconsin, Ben graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Eventually, he settled in Nashville, Tennessee, along with his ex-wife, Andrea Brown Tews. Together, they had five children.
Ben was a lifelong Christian and a working man with a true southern drawl and a slapstick sense of humor. He started his own cleaning business called “An Excellent Janitorial Service,” although he still made time to complete his associate's degree at Liberty University. In his spare time, Ben spent time with his family, often working on cars with his kids, which he did with incredible skill and no formal training. He used these skills whenever anyone needed help with their vehicle. Ben was quick to the rescue and loved to solve the problem. The true loves of his life were undeniably his five children, and it was for them he worked the hardest every day. To the very last minutes of his life, he declared, “I have to be Dad….”
Ben was taken into Christ’s arms on September 3, 2026, after an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Craig Tews, his grandparents, several uncles and aunts, and an infant nephew, Samuel Kozlowski. Ben is survived by his children: Anne-Marie Tews (David), Selah Tews, Erin Tews, Adam Tews, and Noah Tews. His mother, Gayam Walter. His siblings are Rebecca Tews (Duane Kozlowski), Pollyanna Robbins (Lewis), and Timothy Tews (Sally). He is also survived by uncles Kurtiss Tews and Grant Tews (Diane), numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
