Barbara Jean Schwab (Zagata)

Barbara Schwab passed away peacefully at 88 years old on July 3, 2025, in Clarksville, TN. She was born in Schenectady, NY and spent most of her adult life living in Bakersfield, CA.

She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, faithful servant of God, and cherished friend to so many. Barbara’s favorite color was red, and she loved wearing bright colors. She will be remembered for her gentle heart, strong faith, caring spirit, and the comfort she brought to so many lives. Her family was the center of her world, and the memories she created with them will be treasured always.

Barbara is survived by her children, Howard Angelo Canastra (Carla), Christine Ann Haglund (Kal), Karen Marie Olmo (Tony); her grandchildren, Angie Tomlinson, Laura Tomlinson, Steven Canastra, and Olivia Olmo; her 12 great grandchildren, one great- great grandchild, beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her only special sibling, Louise Largeteau, precious son, Michael Fred Canastra, and beautiful granddaughter, Windy Marie Canastra.

The family finds comfort in knowing Barbara’s strong faith carried her home to be with the Lord in Heaven. Her light will never stop shining and remains forever in our hearts.
